One of the most attractive tours for those vacationing in Punta del Este is the boat trip to the island of Gorriti (less than USD 10 per person) and then walk through the various paths through the to and fro the island. Tohire boats you should go to the last docks within the port, go downstairs and you will find the offices of the various ships to purchase tickets that include the round trip. During the summer these boats leave every half hour with two dozen people taking them to Port Cannon, on the east coast of the island. Departure time from the port is set when you buy the tickets. To return to Punta del Este (at Gorriti Island you can not stay overnight) must return to Port Cannon where (you landed) with the tickets. There are departures until 20:00 am but keep in mind that sometimes there are queues to get back, especially near the deadline. But yes, without worry because all of you will be brought back.

Gorriti Island has an area of 21 ha and is in front of Playa Mansa. There are some historical places where you can see cannons and some constructive ruins from the eighteenth century when Francisco Gorriti, the Spanish commander, made up on the island a fortress to defend the Rio de la Plata on the progress of the Portuguese. The island's name was in honor of this commander, who later was arrested by order of Don Jose Joaquin de Viana, first Governor of Montevideo and held on the island. In the south of the island are the remains of the battery Santa Ana, built in stone.

In days of beach it can walk across the island from where the boats moored to Puerto Jardín on the opposite side, a beach of coarse sand and clear ocean waters, constituted as a natural port for private boats of sailing enthusiasts and even for water sports. There are two guesthouses and a forest with trees replanted several times that also contains free use stoves where you can make a roast.
