About 40 km east of Punta del Este, lonesome, with its calm gaze on the ocean's horizon like a fisherman, is the beach town of Jose Ignacio, heavenly and exclusive corner, lying on the Atlantic Ocean first waters. The landscape of José Ignacio is a fraternal embrace between almost unexplored nature and large mansions of an informal style.

This resort, on the secluded peculiarity is one of the most sought resorts by showbiz Argentina (and Uruguay) who wants to escape from the noise during their vacation. Thus, it will not be unusual to find a television star or a regional Top Model to satisfy our frivolous look. Still, a visitor to this resort can hardly escape the impression of a fishing village that permeates the town.

There are two balconies in Jose Ignacio. One at West of the Lighthouse, where the fishing boats are, and other at East. José Ignacio's lighthouse, is open to the public that can ascend through the 121 steps to view the whole town, the beaches of coarse sand, the rocks and the emerald blue water.

If you plan to spend the day, is not easy to recommend a good and cheap restaurant because we didn't find it (although the fact is that we were not long enough to know the town in depth), so we will accept whichever recommendation on this issue, aiming hungry backpackers.

Last but not least, a walk apart is Jose Ignacio lagoon where you can practice water sports as do not violate its fragile natural environment (ie. windsurfing and kayakingis allowed, jet skiing is not ... well, you see) a few miles west of town, where the calm water adds to the peaceful temperament of this paradise resort. Recommended for those seeking the quiet and solitude. A place where "The only thing running is the wind".
