Friends of the Club, here is a small tour around the beaches further east of the country. Reaching Highway 9, is located 31 km from Fortaleza Santa Teresa, built by the Spaniards was rebuilt thanks to Horacio Arredondo expeditions.
For vacationers, camping area offers a large park and one of the largest artificial parks aroud the world. Santa Teresa Park is accessed via two main routes visible from the road: Capatacía and the entrance to the fortress. Capatacía access is more visible from the path and strength is what destinations bus line is called "El chorro" because the agencies about this important point. If going by bus you should get off here if you're not going to have to walk several kilometers with your tent to the side to find a place for camping enabled.
The park has several beaches and they offer some basic services like toilets, drinking water and showers which have hot water until 22 pm. However it is important to know that not all the showers have hot water and Playa Grande (closest Punta Diablo) do not have this service the year I camped there in 2002.
About beaches, those ones like Cerro Chato or El Barco, are preferred by families while it's known that the young fun is at La Moza beach that from last summer (2006) has a bowling happens in the music arena for nearly 24 hs. The area of the girl also has a large concentration of services such as ANTEL, barbecue, ice cream, agencies omnibus, La Moza dining near the beach, etc.. However feel that the supermarket is insufficient for the large number of people going into the season, and this is a fact that people like me who will be repeated every year and is tiring. To be able to buy a snack to go there at about 17:00 (not before it closed 15:00 to 17:00 pm) because the 19 people when he returns to the beach should be long queues to enter the super. The people who go by car you are advised to go to super Capatacía, which is about 5 km from here, not to get bored in the queues and the supermarket funds that are generally quite slow.
Outside of Santa Teresa, following further east, there is the Barra del Chuy, the beach east of the country that separates us from Brazil by the mouth of the Arroyo Chuy. This outlet was targeted by a stone breakwater off the coast can be even more because it is one km from the ocean beaches of the coast I know most extensive. This feature makes it quite windy, and the days you can not enjoy in the bar because of the wind, turn out to be wonderful in other beaches like Santa Teresa or Punta del Diablo.
By the way, being at Sta. Teresa, just a few words about La Barra. This beach resort has a large number of services proper of a modern resort with supermarkets, rental cabins, camping Chuy super complete with "water park" and the camping of the Bar who prefer a more natural and simple. One of the most popular attractions of the resort was the night that a couple of years ago is no longer the same. One of the reasons was the end of the most recognized pub, the Saveiro, which also burned this 2006 winter after being ruled out any reopening of more than 20 years working. Also closed Lobizón that he likes to move the rock, was the best option. Tatanka is still also has a long tradition and Labyrinth, which already has a couple of years.
Finally, I hope this guide was interesting to those who want to venture to the beaches at the further east of the country. See you.
